Submitting Photos with Records
The default status for any image submitted to Fungimap is that the copyright holder does not grant any license for Fungimap to use or publish the image, and the image is submitted only for the purposes of supporting the identification of species observed in records.
However, images of fungi are incredibly useful in supporting our aims of promoting the conservation of fungi and of providing opportunities for sharing and learning to people with an interest in Australian macrofungi. Fungimap produces educational content such as field guides, the Fungimap website, our newsletter, and published field guides and CD-Roms where detailed, beautiful, and interesting pictures of fungi are absolutely essential. Many photographers who submit their images to Fungimap do so in order that they may be included in these products and shared with others who are passionate to learn about Australian fungi. For these purposes, Fungimap accepts images submitted in accordance with several Creative Commons copyright options, as detailed below. You may indicate which Creative Commons copyright status applies to your image by completing the form here and submitting it with your images:
Alternatively, you may indicate a different copyright treatment for each of your images by attaching the following statement to your image, along with your signature and the date:
“I agree to grant a ______ copyright license to Fungimap Inc for the photographic image attached/enclosed.” Example: “I agree to grant a Creative Commons - Attribution - Share Alike 3.0 copyright license to Fungimap Inc for the photographic image attached/enclosed.”
If you do not advise us of a Creative Commons copyright to apply, we will use your images only internally to support species identification in observational records. You can request details from us at any time of the photographs and/or records that we hold from you, or the details of the copyright associated with any of your images.
